What we’re looking for

Have you recently graduated or nearing the end of school and need some more meat in your portfolio? Do you find yourself thinking about clever taglines, catchy headlines, and bold titles? We want someone who loves every piece and part of language and writing, Someone who has read anything and everything. You will have the opportunity to work directly with our copy chief as well as our copywriters and hone your craft while you work on a variety of projects.

Our ideal candidate is collaborative, takes direction well, is open to learning the concepts of copywriting and how to really do it well, and is a natural communicator. A strong attention to detail and deadlines are a must!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Brainstorm concepts for multiple writing projects
  • Research our business areas, products, and competitors to identify compelling messaging
  • Assist the creative team with articulating campaign concepts into copy
  • Help write deliverables including video scripts, web/social copy, print and digital advertising
  • Interpret client feedback and assist in writing revisions
  • Research copywriting trends for projects
  • Help shape and contribute to the language and style of client-facing presentations
  • Help with editing, proofreading and spell checking
  • Keep writing projects on schedule and meet deadlines
  • Work well with direction and feedback from marketing leads

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong proficiency in copywriting, editing, and proofreading
  • Extremely well-organized, resourceful, collaborative, curious, a strong communicator and a self-starter (we don’t believe in hand-holding)
  • Portfolio or examples demonstrating basic copywriting experience (school or professional)
  • Eager to learn new skills and adapt within the culture of W&K
  • Ability to work at our downtown Colorado Springs office around 20 hours per week on a regular schedule (though, because it is an unpaid position, we can be flexible with outside commitments on a case by case basis).
