MLive is a leader and one of the largest social media brands of publishers in Michigan with over 3.8 million followers across all platforms.

As an Advance Local Reddit Intern with MLive , you will be part of a dynamic and inclusive newsroom team focused on local journalism for one of the country’s largest privately owned media companies. This 15-20-hour a week internship is paid and is a remote position. The pay rate for this position is $15/hr.

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Reddit-savvy intern to help us better understand, contribute to, and grow our presence on the platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands Reddit’s unique culture and is excited about using it to amplify journalism and connect with engaged communities.

What You’ll Do:

• Monitor and engage in relevant subreddit communities


• Write thoughtful, non-promotional posts and comments that reflect MLive’s voice and journalism values


• Surface trends, questions, and conversations that could inform reporting or social strategy


• Identify opportunities for MLive content to spark engagement or answer community questions


• Track feedback and engagement, and suggest ways to evolve our Reddit approach

What We’re Looking For:

• A regular Reddit user who knows the landscape, etiquette, and key subreddits


• Strong writing skills and sharp editorial judgment


• Curiosity about community engagement and audience development


• Interest in local journalism, Michigan news, and connecting people with useful information


• Organized, independent, and comfortable experimenting

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with community moderation or running social accounts


• Familiarity with Reddit analytics or social listening tools


• A creative eye for turning local news into conversational, shareable posts
